The school’s last Ofsted inspection took place in December 2024 and it is our pleasure to share with you that Kingswood Academy was rated ‘Outstanding’ for behaviour and attitudes, ‘Outstanding’ for personal development, ‘Outstanding’ for leadership and management and ‘Good’ for quality of education.

Inspectors commented:

  • Lift Kingswood “greatly improves the life chances of pupils”.
  • One pupil captured the thoughts of many when they said, "It’s magic here!"
  • Pupils who attend Lift Kingswood have an “exceptional experience” and achieve very well.
  • The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
  • Students are highly motivated, benefit from a wide range of activities and opportunities to develop their character and belief in themselves.
  • The school has very high expectations for pupils, who teach them to have high aspirations and ‘never give up’.

  • Pupils are actively encouraged to become involved in the school and influence change.
  • Students at Kingswood are “highly motivated”, empathetic and resilient, behave “impeccably well” and “enjoy learning” at school. They “live the values of the school” and have their own high expectations. Pupils develop a “profound moral and ethical code” and celebrate diversity.
  • The curriculum is well structured and teachers regularly assess pupils' knowledge in lessons, giving pupils “effective feedback” in order for them to improve.
  • Ofsted highlights that pupils “enjoy school and attend regularly” and are offered a wide range of subjects to prepare them for the future.
  • Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are “particularly well supported”and these children make excellent progress and are given appropriate guidance.
  • Although pupils rarely receive behaviour sanctions, for the small minority of pupils who do, the school’s bespoke ‘Horizons’
    support programme is recognised in helping students rapidly improve
    .
  • Reading is a priority at Kingswood, with pupils who are struggling being offered extra support. Oracy, or speaking aloud, is also enhanced by the school’s new approach to reading, with inspectors noting pupils are both articulate in conversation and can talk about complex subject ideas.
  • Leaders at all levels are relentless in their desire to improve the school. This has led to many transformational changes, for example in the way they support pupils’ personal development.
  • The school actively seeks to engage with the community.
  • Staff are positive about workload and the recent refinements made to improve this further.
  • Pupils learn the skills to become upstanding members of the community.
  • They benefit from a rich array of opportunities that develop their character. Pupils learn how to conquer their fears, work in teams, improve their productivity and believe in themselves.
  • Pupils develop traits of empathy and resilience far beyond their age.

This Ofsted report, along with our 2025 results, show that LIft Kingswood is a truly great school and the national beacon of educational excellence that this community deserves.
